Questions
- What is a cubemap?
- A cubemap stores a 360° scene as six square pictures: front, right, back, left, up and down. Game engines, VR apps and some 3D tools use them instead of one wide equirectangular image.
- Which face orientation is used?
- Y axis up, and the middle of the 360° photo is the front face. The strip download lists faces in this order: front, right, back, left, up, down.
- Is there a size limit?
- Images up to 16384 px per side open in the browser. Very large images need a desktop browser with enough memory.
